In these times of economic uncertainty as well as an increasing environmental awareness, what kind of retail store better embodies the ideals of recycling and reuse than a resale clothing store? In a neighborhood that is family oriented, bustling with kids and strollers, what kind of retail store would be more useful than a resale clothing store for [hip] kids and their parents?
Here comes Silver Lake’s GROWkidGROW, a new store that will feature gently used, brand name children’s clothing (infant to 10 years old), books, toys and accessories as well as gently used maternity wear. The store will also display artwork of local artists and feature musical guests and kid friendly performances.
GROWkidGROW also intends to host a “Moms’ Open Mic” event once a month as well as other parent related evening events. More info. to follow!!
The idea for the store originated among three friends and former co-workers. Missy Gibson, Mark McRae and Jonathan Siegel, comprised the “sales team” of a downtown print and design company not that very long ago. Catering to many “green” clients, the trio together began to champion the concept of repurposing, and to apply the principles of “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” wherever they could. Together they tackled their client’s marketing and printing needs, brainstorming on everything from cost-effective solutions to choosing the perfect paper. Even after leaving the company their friendship continued to grow and inturn fostered this opportunity.
See you in the store! Missy, Jonathan and Mark
